Our ski courses for children

Our Alta Pusteria ski school offers courses specially tailored to children, focusing on fun and safety (secured children’s area with its own conveyor belt). With a lot of patience, child-friendly methods and under the supervision of our mascot penguin Bobo, the little ones learn to ski in a playful way. Our experienced ski instructors make sure that every child feels comfortable and progresses at their own pace.

Grouping

Bambini

In a playful way, the MINIS get to know the element of snow, how to move in the snow with unfamiliar equipment and learn how to ski safely.

Level ONE

In stage ONE, the children learn the snow brake (= safe snow plow). The first major hurdle has been overcome.

Level TWO

In level TWO, the children consolidate the snow brake and learn the plow turn. They also learn how to ride the lift correctly. So nothing stands in the way of the first big descent.

Level THREE

In level THREE, the children learn to alternate between large and small plows, i.e. to alternate between fast and slow skiing. This enables them to ski a safe plow turn even on medium-steep terrain.

Level FOUR

In level FOUR they learn the plow turn, i.e. the skis are closed after each turn and the parallel turn is not far away.

Level FIVE

Children at level FIVE learn to bring the skis into a parallel position in an arc (closing in the fall line). The skis are closed earlier and earlier and the first parallel turn is almost complete.

Level SIX

In level SIX the children learn the parallel turn and the use of poles and of course they learn to control their speed.

Level SEVEN

In level SEVEN, the children learn to swing parallel in medium-steep terrain and start with short swinging.

Level EIGHT

In level EIGHT, they learn to carve, i.e. to ski on the edge without sliding.

Level NINE

Children in level NINE learn to perfect short turns and practise on steep terrain

Level TEN

In the ZEHN level, the children combine all the techniques they have learned and practise especially in deep snow and on the moguls.

Ski race

3 … 2 … 1 … GO!

The ski race takes place every week on Friday. The children practise diligently with their ski instructors the day before. The excitement builds and many children are nervous before the start. But don’t worry, all the children receive a medal and a certificate. There is even a trophy for the best time of the day. BOBO will of course be present at the award ceremony and the ski instructors will show you the BOBO dance. The award ceremony will take place after the end of the course at 12:30 pm at the assembly point.

Who is Bobo?

BOBO the penguin is an extraordinary bird. He loves the mountains and so it is quite clear that he can ski. BOBO the penguin loves winter, snow and the cold.

He prefers to be outside – only very rarely – when it’s freezing cold, he prefers to be in the warm room. Because BOBO the penguin prefers to be with children, he likes everything that children like. Penguin BOBO’s favorite food is fish and a portion of ice cream for dessert.

Skiing is great fun for him, especially when there are lots of children around. And even if he falls over, a real ski penguin shakes the snow off his fur and carries on!

Dear children, BOBO and the team of the Hochpustertal winter sports school are looking forward to your visit!
